Emaho’s annual Mantrathon has become a tradition of community and spiritual renewal. It’s a one-day Avalokiteshvara, Chenrezig, retreat.
Chenrezig is the embodiment of all the infinite Buddhas' compassionate wisdom. Reciting Chenrezig’s mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, we generate a mind seeking to deliver all beings from suffering. The practice of Chenrezig allows our hearts to open as we become moved to act for the benefit of others, overcoming our selfish attitudes. The wisdom of love and compassion brings us to the realization that all of us, all sentient brings, are interconnected. This truth brings us profound respect for all. True Compassion is the path to freedom from suffering.
Rinpoche’s students and friends throughout the world will join us in collecting mantras. The people of Tehor, Tibet, collect mantras the entire month of January. The monks and nuns in Tibet join us sitting in meditation, their schedule mirroring our activities. Rinpoche’s monks in Southern India collect with us. Friends and students in New Zealand, Japan, Yakima, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado and New York as well as friends in Europe sit with us in four sessions of retreat meditation. At Emaho Center in Phoenix, we’ll conclude the Mantrathon with Tsok, dedicating the love and compassion we’ve evoked and sending our mantras to the world with wishes that the energy spreads love and compassion. Emaho’s Mantrathon welcomes the new year with wishes for a peaceful year, a year of beneficial resolution to world problems, a year of healing and happiness.
