Saka Dawa commemorates three pivotal events in the life of the Buddha: his birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana (death). These events mark the establishment of the precious Dharma.
During Saka Dawa we engage in acts of kindness, generosity, and ethical conduct, with awareness that these actions lead to the accumulation of merit. By this, we benefit ourself as well as all sentient beings, fostering a sense of interconnectedness and compassion. Saka Dawa serves as a powerful reminder for us to embody the values of mindfulness, altruism, and the pursuit of spiritual growth.
Please join us in the traditional bathing of Buddha and share with us stories of these three auspicious events.
We will pray and conduct the traditional Buddha bathing ceremony. This ceremony is done by pouring fragrant water over the statue of infant Buddha. It symbolizes cleansing of our body, speech and mind to purify the afflictions and negativities.
