In honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s historic visit to Tucson 20 years ago this month, we are delighted to begin our new video series sharing His Holiness’ teaching guiding us into Shantideva’s Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, chapter 8, meditation. This first four part series is a profound teaching that reveals how the heart and mind can be trained in compassion, clarity, and wisdom. Shantideva’s words, brought to life through His Holiness’ warmth and brilliance, offer timeless inspiration for all of us who wish to walk the Bodhisattva’s path. This is a opportunity to share the joy of exploring this teaching together.

Shantideva’s timeless verses on Mahayana aspiration and practice, continue to inspire hearts and minds more than a thousand years after they were composed. The verses from Chapter 8 are aspirational, guiding our practice. Universally cherished as one of the most authentic and complete guides for anyone dedicated to the enlightenment of all beings, this classic shines with wisdom that feels fresh and relevant today. From simple, practical methods to transforming destructive emotions into compassion, to profound reflections on ultimate truth, Shantideva’s words offer us auspicious guidance. His Holiness teaching on this chapter uplifts, empowers, and invites us to walk the Bodhisattva’s path with joy and purpose.
