Bringing Buddhism Alive Through the Life Stories of the Historical Great Masters
REGISTRATION FOR THIS SUMMER SERIES IS CLOSED!
FALL SERIES WILL BE PLANNED
Join ZaChoeje Rinpoche in the first of a series of classes designed to bring our understanding of Buddhism alive through the life stories of great Buddhist masters.
In the first series, we’ll study the extraordinary life story of the Great Jamgon Lama Tsongkhapa. Lama Tsongkhapa was a brilliant student, an acclaimed scholar, a renowned practitioner, an experienced Yogi, a distinguished author, and a kind, generous and wise teacher. Lama Tsongkhapa is the revered architect and founder of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism.
In this series, Rinpoche will add textural insights bringing us closer into the heart of dharma, dharma relevant in ancient Tibetan society, and as well relevant in our daily contemporary society.
Rinpoche asks we read with him Tsongkhapa, A Buddha in the Land of Snows, written by Thupten Jinpa. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, wrote in his forward to “Tsongkhapa, A Buddha in the Land of Snows”, saying Tsongkhapa’s life exemplified the importance of study, critical reflection, and meditative practice.
Thupten Jinpa, a long time translator for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, said he wrote Tsongkhapa’s biography for the curious reader, yet for the reader who has a discerning interest in engaging with fundamental questions of human existence.
ZaChoeje Rinpoche will skillfully guide us, allowing us to strengthen our spiritual understanding as we explore chapter by chapter. As we learn about Tsongkhapa’s life, we learn of the tools and techniques he used to demonstrate the path necessary for enlightenment.
Rinpoche anticipates this first series will be 15 classes, perhaps adding a few more as needed as we fully consider Lama Tsongkhapa's extraordinary life and it's relevance to us. The study of Tsongkhapa’s life is, in itself, a teaching of the gradual stages of the path to enlightenment.
For Participants
The series is limited to 25 participants. Classes will be Friday night at 7:30 pm, mountain standard time. The series begins July 24th (changed from the 17th). Registration will be first-come, first-served. We request that you sincerely commit to starting and completing the entire course.

In an autobiographical poem, Lama Tsongkhapa wrote:
First I sought wide and extensive learning,
Second I received all teachings as personal instructions,
Finally, I engaged in meditative practice day and night,
All these I dedicate to the flourishing of the Buddha’s teaching.
