Please join Geshe Namgyal and Geshe Lobsang as they chant prayers of celebration and longevity for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in honor of his 85th birthday.
The Office of His Holiness is requesting those of us who would like to wish His Holiness a happy birthday to recite the mantra of Avalokiteshvara (Tibetan, Chenrezig) 1,000 times. Avalokiteshvara is the Buddha of love and compassion, reciting his mantra, Om Mani Pe Me Hum, evokes love and compassion within ourselves. The monks will lead us as we chant sending our deepest wishes to His Holiness for excellent health and, our profound gratitude for his life lived selflessly and untiringly for the benefit of all others. We honor His Holiness on his birthday, acknowledging his vast and generous contributions to steadfastly upholding the dharma, his extraordinary work for world peace, and for his resolute efforts in striving for the equity and wellbeing of all sentient beings. The monks will conclude the session with His Holiness’ long life prayers and the long-life prayer for our kind spiritual teacher, ZaChoeje Rinpoche. May the masters live long for the glory of dharma.
